VersaLogic expands high performance EBX offering

VersaLogic adds 3rd Generation Intel Core i3 and Celeron-based products to popular Copperhead line of EBX SBCs.

VersaLogic Corp., the embedded industry’s most trusted computer company, today announced the release of two new models in their popular “Copperhead” line. The new offerings include a dual-core Intel Core i3 product, and a Celeron-based product. The models provide both lower cost, and lower power dissipation, for high-end computing applications that do not need the extreme performance of the Intel i7 processor. The lower power dissipation of these new models, up to 60% less than the existing i7 models, allows them to be used in a wide range of environments where thermal management is a challenge.

In addition to the new lower cost / lower power models, the Copperhead line offers further savings through function integration. The Copperhead’s performance level and extensive processing capabilities allow for multiple high-bandwidth functions to be consolidated onto a single board. This can drastically reduce system cost and size when used to replace existing multi-board systems.

Industry Standard EBX Embedded Computer Boards

Based on the industry-standard EBX format (5.75 x 8 inches), Copperhead provides a choice of 3rd Generation Intel Core i7, Core i3, and Celeron processor options to meet a variety of price/performance application requirements. It features several thermal management configurations as well as other optional features. The Copperhead enables scalability, simplifies design, and lowers overall system cost.

High Performance Video Processing

For systems that require video processing or intense computation, the Copperhead features a high-speed memory interface, up to 16 GB on-board RAM capacity, and up to three independent display outputs. The PCIe/104 expansion site with a PCIe x16 lane is ideal for add-on cards, such as frame grabbers.

Extensive I/O Capabilities

The Copperhead features on-board data acquisition via sixteen analog inputs, eight analog outputs, and thirty two digital I/O lines. System I/O includes dual Gigabit Ethernet with network boot capability, two USB 3.0 ports, ten USB 2.0 ports, four serial ports, and HD audio. Dual SATA 3 and SATA 6 interfaces support Intel Rapid Storage Manager with RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 capabilities (SATA 6 ports only). Flash storage is provided via an mSATA socket, eUSB interface, and a Mini PCIe socket. The Mini PCIe socket also accommodates plug-in Wi-Fi modems, GPS receivers, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet channels, and other plug-in mini cards.

Built for Rugged Applications

Available in both standard (0º to +60ºC) and industrial temperature (-40º to +85ºC) versions, the rugged Copperhead boards meet MIL-STD-202G specifications for mechanical shock and vibration. The high tolerance +12V power input allows the board to operate with power ranging from 9 to 15 volts. This eliminates precision power supplies and also makes the Copperhead ideal for use with automotive-type power.
